Improved sound quality, really effective noise canceling and long-lasting battery life–wrapped up in the same strong yet stylish design. Apple’s W1 chip makes pairing with Apple devices a no brainer. Works well as a headset for making phone calls and compares well against its leading competitors, from a sound standpoint.
- Same design as the previous model
- Does not fold flat
- Bulky carrying case
The final verdict!
A really good voice cancelling set of headphone has been made even better – in quality and performance. We tested the headphone ourselves. We also looked at how other reviewers ranked and rated.
Based on our personal experience and their assesment, we have arrived at the rating given here: Rating: 8 out of 10 stars.
A good product tweaked into a better one
The Beatstudio3 Wireless remains one of our favourites from amongst the galaxy of wireless noise canceling headphones. Its Pure Noise Cancelling Technology dynamically pinpoints and blocks all outside noise so you hear nothing but the music. The constant, real-time calibration it provides delivers such clarity of sound, emotion and range as to make it a truly premium listening experience.
So, what have we got here? A really good product that has been tweaked into an even better one? Absolutely. Yeah, there are a few new color options but otherwise it looks virtually identical to its predecessor. Your initial reaction might well be, “Hey, it has exactly the same design as the one that came out in 2014. So, what’s new, then???” A few good things actually… The new Beats is a better performing headphone on a number of parameters including sound, battery life and noise canceling.
The guts or DNA of this headphone have been comprehensively redesigned – with new drivers, new circuitry including Apple’s W1 chip, found in other Beats wireless headphones.
Aside from making it super simple to connect to other Apple devices, the W1 chip also helps to deliver better battery life. It’s now up to 22 hours with wireless and noise canceling on, double that of the previous model. Since battery life numbers vary with volume levels, you may not get quite the same amount, but we were able to consistently get at least 20 hours of playback and sometimes even more before I had to recharge. Turn off noise canceling and that number soars to 40 hours!
You can immerse yourself in wireless playback of up to 40 hours without compromising on audio quality! Plus, the Beats Fast Fuel feature gives youthree hours of playback from just 10 minutes of charging.
Improved sound quality and more effective noise canceling The new BeatsStudio3 Wireless is arguably one of the more dynamic, exciting headphones in the market today. The two really important upgrades have been to the quality of sound and noise canceling. When we compared this new Studio3 Wireless to the older version, this new model sounds cleaner, with better bass definition and a bit more natural sound. With a really sweet treble. A noticeable difference. These are well-balanced headphones with plenty of bass which is neither overpowering or booming. And its sure to be a good fit for those who listen to a lot of EDM and hip-hop.
What we found especially noteworthy is Beats’ new proprietary noise cancelling technology which Beat’s calls Pure Adaptive Noise Canceling or Pure ANC. This new feature constantly monitors the environment and calibrates the noise canceling to the sounds around us – regardless of what the noise is. It’s the W1 chip is that enables the adaptive noise canceling to be constantly monitoring the environment around us without draining the battery.
In addition, another very effective feature of the headphone is the microphone on the inside of each earcup – this calibrates the noise canceling to the fit of the headphone, snugly adjusting for “leakages caused by one’s hair, glasses, different ear shapes and movement of one’s head,” according to the company rep.
We used the headphones while walking along very busy streets, on buses and trains and in fast-food eateries. While the noise canceling maybe considered a slight notch behind its leading competitors from the Bose and Sony stables, we found it to be still significantly impressive. What’s also worth a mention is that this headphone works remarkably well as a headset for making phone calls. I could actually hear my own voice while talking, which prevented me from talking too loudly. Yet, callers said they could hear me very clearly.
While we would have liked to see some changes in the exterior design of this headphone Beats has left it untouched. Beats said it was “more important to unlock its full potential with new components”. While some of us found that its inability to fold-flat to be somewhat annoying, this is still a very comfortable and durable headphone that’s really enjoyable to listen to, with very dependable Bluetooth performance. Beats has taken a good wireless noise canceling headphone and significantly increased its performance. Of course, it would be even better if it cost a little less!

The Beats Studio 3 are a welcome upgrade to the series
I wanted to start off this brief review by stating that I wear headphones almost my entire day at work. I have owned several Beats headphones in the past and currently own also the Beats Solo 3, Solo 2, Beats X, and PowerBeats 3 models. When I heard that the Studio Wireless headphones will be including the W1 chip in the new Studio 3 models, I wanted to buy it right away. I use the Solo 3 headphones each night and keep them on my nightstand, but my one complaint is that as a person who wears eyeglasses, the on ear design hurts my ears when wearing glasses after an hour or so and I have to take them off.
I’ve now had the Studio 3 Wireless headphones for a couple weeks now and I can say that I can wear them an ENTIRE workday (8 hours) with my glasses on and experience no discomfort. The sound is excellent and having the W1 is just amazing. The battery life withANC on and the range included with the technology make these head and shoulders better than previous models. While you can turn ANC off and get 40 hours of battery life, I leave it on because while working the noise cancellation is worth it and 22 hours of battery life is not bad at all. The headphones come with the traditional Beats audio cable with remote and a micro USB charging cable. They are super easy to pair on iOS devices and are just a joy to use. The sound is excellent and not too over EQ’ed. I listen to podcasts more than music, but I do occasionally listen to music on them and I cannot complain about the sound.TIRE workday (8 hours) with my glasses on and experience no discomfort. Purchased through Apple but wanted to leave an honest review here
I bought these through Apple at a discounted price.. got them for around $260. As a frequent Amazon shopper, I wanted to leave a review here because, if you’re like me, you rely heavily on Amazon reviews before hitting that “Add to Cart” button on any website. I mostly use these headphones for gaming and listening to EDM music while I work on my computer. They are definitely the nicest pair of headphones I own, I went with the grey and gold version. Overall, I like them but I mostly like them for the $260 price that I bought them for.I think these are worth buying if you can get them at a discounted price or wait for them to get cheaper!
- Aesthetically the most gorgeous pair of headphones I own
- Included a hard shell case, charging cable, wired mode cable
- Battery life lasts long and charges within 10 minutes
- Pairing and device switching is really fast and simple
- Sound quality is good for EDM music
- Range on these is great. I can walk all over my apartment while they are connected to my computer, sound doesn’t break up even from behind closed doors
- Beats Solo2 headphones are way more comfortable to wear.
- These are a lot tighter and heavier on my head than my Solo2 headphones so I can’t wear them for longer than 3 hours if I’m working at my computer
- Bose 35 noise canceling feature is much better
